Antique Edwardian pendant featuring garnet gemstones and seed pearls set into a 9ct yellow gold setting.
These types of pendants were named Lavalier pendants popularised by the Duchesse de la Valliere, a mistress of King Louis XIV of France.
Garnets were used extensively in all different designs of Victorian jewellery, bracelets, rings, brooches and elaborate necklaces, they represent the birthstone of January.

The pendant measures 4cm / 1.6" in height and 2,1cm / 0.8" in width. The pendant hangs from a new 18" yellow gold chain.
CONDITION
